Fried Soft Shell Crab Sandwiches

Serves 4


  • 3-4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Steamers Seasoning or other seafood seasoning
  • 2 cups flour
  • 8 soft shell crabs washed and cleaned
  • Fresh Romaine leaves
  • Vine Ripe Tomatoes
  • Remoulade Sauce (recipe follows)
  • Hot Sauce (optional)
  • Peanut or Vegetable Oil
  • 4 fresh french sub rolls

Whisk together eggs and 2 tablespoons water until mixture thickens. Pour into a shallow dish.
Mix together flour and Steamers Seasoning or your choice of seafood seasoning. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Dip crabs in egg mixture, shake off excess and dredge in flour mixture, coating each side well. Fry the crabs in the hot oil for 3-5 minutes until golden brown on each side. Use a fryer cover if available to prevent spatters. Remove soft shell crabs after they are a golden brown and drain on paper towels. Build sandwiches on French bread and top with Remoulade Sauce.
Serve with Lemon wedges and hot sauce

Steamers Remoulade


  • 1 teaspoon steamers spice
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • ¼ cup parsley
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • juice of ½ lime

Add scallions, parsley and celery to a food process and blend. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. Refrigerate until needed.
