BBQ Sauce 101

Flavor, NC | BBQ Sauce

Main Ingredient:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (Start with one Gallon)

Add the following ingredients in the amount you prefer:

  • Red Pepper Flakes, 2-5 Tablespoons
  • Cayenne Pepper, 2-5 Tablespoons
  • Salt, 2-5 Tablespoons
  • Pepper, 2-5 Tablespoons

Add the “red” part of the BBQ Sauce that you prefer:

  • Ketchup and/or BBQ Sauce, 1 to 2 quarts

Optional ingredients if you prefer a sweeter sauce:

  • Molasses, 1 to 2 Tablespoons
  • Brown Sugar, 1 to 2 Tablespoons
  • White Sugar, 1 to 2 Tablespoons

Optional ingredients if you prefer a hotter taste:

  • Texas Pete or any hot sauce, the amount you prefer

  1. I just finished watching flavor nc. I love seeing local agriculture used in recipes,and restaurants willing to share their recipes.I live in sc not far from the nc line. I would love to visit some of these restaurants. Thanks for the makers of this program.

    I am from Lexington, NC and I have to say that Picnics BBQ dip is very tasty. I had dinner there this evening and really enjoyed it. The Pig Whistle eggs aré the bomb. I love this place.
