Stewed Muscadine Chili BBQ Glazed Chicken Wings

Flavor, NC | Stewed Muscadine Chili BBQ Glazed Chicken Wings


  • 2 C Stewed Muscadine Mix
  • ¼ Cup -Brown Sugar
  • 2-3 Bay Leaf
  • 1 Ea- Orange Peel
  • ¼ C Red Wine Vinegar
  • ½ Sprig Rosemary
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4 T- Dijon Mustard
  • 2 T- Ancho Powder


Poach muscadines until softened by placing in hot water. Then pass through a sieve or a food mill to get the juice.

In another pot combine the brown sugar, bay leaves, orange peel, red wine vinegar, rosemary, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, Ancho powder and Guajiilo chilis. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes. Pass through a sieve and into the pan containing the fresh muscadine juice. Allow that mixture to reduce over medium to low heat for about thirty minutes.

Then add sauce liberally to grilled chicken wings.
