Mother’s Holiday Ham

Serves 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 Whole boneless ham (about 10-12lbs)
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ½ cup pear nectar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup maple syrup (or molasses)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F

Place ham cut side down in deep baking pan
Crosshatch the ham by scoring the outside in a diamond pattern (cuts should be about ¼” to ½” deep)

Mix pear nectar and OJ together and pour over ham
Roast for 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with juice.

In a separate bowl, mix syrup and brown sugar.

After the first 30 minutes of cooking, pour the syrup/brown sugar mixture over the top of the ham and spread evenly.
Bake until sugar caramelizes and starts to form a crust, about an hour.

Let rest before slicing.

    How long do you cook ham at 375 before you start putting on the glaze? On the show it was already precooked (I think) and then glaze was put on per recipe

      Connie, the ham will cook for 1 hours and 30 minutes total. You cook it for 30 minutes in the juice mixture before adding the glaze for the additional hour.
